MSN Curriculum

Our MSN curriculum will prepare you for a nursing career with the option to specialize in higher levels of practice. You will gain valuable knowledge and develop an advanced skillset through virtual practice and clinical nursing experiences. Our curriculum will prepare you to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms, private practices, nursing homes, and public health departments.

By the end of our program, you will complete 36 semester hours, 600 instructional hours, and 90 instructional weeks. MSN Nursing Program Specialty Tracks

At Eagle Gate College, we offer a post-licensure MSN degree with two different specialty tracks. Your first year will consist of six core courses. After you have completed the first year of the MSN program, you can choose which track to pursue for your second and final year. All paths include virtual classes, six specialty courses, and between 90 to 135 practicum hours.

Administration and Leadership Specialty Track

Our MSN Administration and Leadership Track prepares graduates for nursing administration and leadership roles. Not only are the classes conveniently online, but this track prioritizes research, analysis, and the development of critical thinking skills. The MSN Administration and Leadership Track can prepare you to work in a number of healthcare settings that require Nurse Administrator and leadership knowledge, skills, and competencies.

This track accepts qualified applicants who are bachelor-prepared RNs. It can help you obtain specialization as a Nurse Administrator in managerial and leadership capacities. An MSN degree with this specialization could lead to various career options. These might include managing a small team of nurses, several nursing units, an entire department, or even a health system. Nursing Education Specialty Track

Our MSN Nursing Education Track is designed for BSN-educated nurses who want to pursue a Nurse Educator role. For example, you might aspire to become a Clinical Nurse Educator working in staff development or an institution of higher education. Our Nursing Education Track will prepare you to teach in a variety of settings that require nurse-educator knowledge, skills, and competencies.

This track accepts qualified applicants who are already bachelor-prepared Registered Nurses (RNs). It provides specialty courses that are usually required for careers in nursing education. For example, graduates of the MSN Nurse Educator Track can often meet the education requirements to teach in Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) programs, Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) programs, associate-degree programs, or baccalaureate degree nursing programs.

Public Notice of CCNE Accreditation Visit

Invitation for Third-Party Comments

Murray, Layton, Boise, and Idaho Falls Colleges will host an accreditation site visit by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for accreditation of our Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) and MSN Program October 9-10, 2024.

In accordance with CCNE’s procedures, the Commission provides the opportunity for program constituents and other interested parties to submit, in writing, comments concerning the program’s qualifications for initial accreditation.

You are invited to share your comments regarding the College’s MEPN and MSN Program in Murray/ Layton, UT, Idaho Falls, ID and Boise, ID to CCNE by September 9, 2024. All third-party comments must be written in English. CCNE shares third-party comments only with the evaluation team. At no time during the review process are these comments shared with the hosting program. However, all compliance concerns related to the accreditation standards will be identified in the accreditation report, and the program will have an opportunity to respond to those concerns as part of its response to that report.
